The Mana Well consists of two different kinds of energy: Layeth, the life force of the gods, and Sevoyr, the life force of dragons. These grand beings eternally battle one another over domain of the two worlds. Crede is ruled comfortably by the gods, while Opheidra is in the possession of dragons. Neither is content with what they have, however, and so they send out their avatars to fight in their stead. The gods control humans, using virtue and justice as their beacon, while dragons ordain devils to fight for them, with strict contracts.
Crystals are used to shift the Mana Well’s focus away from one energy source and closer to another, creating a constant power struggle, as they do battle by erecting and destroying each other’s crystals.
